Discover La Maison Highbury: A Gem of a Cafe in the Heart of London

Hidden away on Calabria Road, La Maison Highbury is not just a cafe; it's a vibrant community hub where warmth and flavor mingle seamlessly. With a cozy atmosphere that echoes the sensation of enjoying a seaside retreat, this locale offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of London life. As storm clouds gather overhead, the gentle ambiance within La Maison brings a welcome reprieve, beckoning you to kick back, indulge, and simply be in the moment.

Stepping inside, you are greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingling with the sweetness of baked goods. The cafe's inviting design, filled with natural light streaming through large windows, creates an uplifting environment conducive to relaxation or sociable chatter. Whether you're here for a quick catch-up with friends or a quiet moment of solitude, La Maison caters to every mood.

The menu is a delightful medley of cafe fare that satisfies various cravings. You’ll find everything from velvety coffees to handcrafted pastries and a range of healthful salads. The kimchi toastie deserves a particular mention as a highlight, boasting a savory filling that dances on your palate, while the salads, praised for their freshness and flavor, redefine the notion of healthy eating—especially the potato and aubergine varieties that even non-vegetarians rave about. If your sweet tooth needs satisfaction, the pain chocolat with pistachio is a must-try, a pastry that promises to elevate your experience with each flaky bite.

Customer feedback aligns perfectly with this picturesque getaway. Ian Jindal describes it as a “friendly neighbourhood cafe” that feels like home with a delightful team offering great service. Ulviye captures the essence of the cafe as a sanctuary from the dreariness of London’s weather, stating that it’s a place where both friends and families can find serenity. Pat Gibbons has turned visiting La Maison into a cherished daily ritual, drawn back by the delicious coffee and the inspiring atmosphere enhanced by soft, inviting music and attentive staff.

However, while the charm is undeniable, it's important to note that the cafe promotes a “no laptop” policy on weekends, which encourages buzzing conversations versus laptop clatter—adding to the sense of camaraderie among patrons, much loved by many. Although seating can sometimes feel a tad crammed, the vibrant energy around you makes it all worthwhile.

In summary, La Maison Highbury stands as a testament to what a neighborhood cafe should be—friendly, inviting, and brimming with delicious offerings. Whether you pop in for a caffeine fix or make it your go-to for a leisurely lunch surrounded by great vibe and even better company, this cafe is undeniably a worthy detour in your London adventure.

So why not take a moment to experience the warmth of La Maison Highbury? Your next caffeine fix and a slice of happiness await just off the main road at this charming little spot.

Friendly neighbourhood cafe with a lovely team, great coffee and tasty cafe fare (cakes, sarnies, salads and an exquisite kimchi toastie). Varied clientele throughout the day - locals, park-run people, nice mix. No laptop policy on weekends so doesn’t feel like an office share! Worth a detour.

The cafe where I felt the warmth of home for the first time in London As an atmosphere, you feel yourself in a cafe by the sea in the south, I guess that's why it makes you feel good in the cloudy weather of London.Their salads were both healthy and delicious. It is a place where you can come with your friends and family with peace of mind, I highly recommend it. we will go again and again…

Nice place and pastries. We couldn't stay inside because it was crowded, neither outside because of rain. We need to come back and enjoy the place. Filter Coffee was nice and the pain chocolate with pistachio was insanely good.

Such a delightful lunch!! A great little spot for healthy and tasty salad or grab a coffee and homemade sandwiches. I am not really veg lover but even I had a delicious salad. The patato one and aubergine one is a must have. Also very lovely staff and good service

Unfortunately, nut Allergy awareness, seemed lacking by the man serving at the till which could be a concern for people with a nut allergy. Apart from that, I love this lovely little spot in Highbury serving great coffee and a good selection of things to go with it.

Solid cafe, tucked a block away from the park. All good apart from the seating which can feel a bit crammed.

Love this vibrant coffee shop so much I've currently made it part of my daily ritual. Perfect location in a quiet side street, beautiful terrace and corner spot which means plenty of windows...so plenty of light even on rainy days The coffee is delicious, and good choice of fresh food. Add to that an inspiring atmosphere, a combination of relaxing loungy music and the warm and welcoming team. Even when you extend your hours soaking in the positive vibes, they never make you feel you ought to make a move, there's a lot of kindness and community spirit, which makes it a firm favourite amongst the clearly loyal locals you meet here.
